One of my favorite verses is in here, Galatians 5 verse 22:

“But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.”

The only problem with this verse is that my soul is also crowded with the vices, in varying proportions. I find it hard to understand – to hope – how the Spirit can live in me when I also have greed, fear and unloving thoughts in there.

Dear Father God, I pray to You for the fruits of your Holy Spirit.  Forgive me for the nasty thoughts – and worse, the nasty words – that live there now. Please get rid of them in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ, weed them out and plant Your beautiful fruits. Help me be vigilant each day to seek to be like my Lord Jesus, and be loving, and kind. But please, first, help me grow my faith. I cannot do it without You. Thank You for my Lord Jesus. In His holy name I pray. Amen
