And so the book of Jeremiah ends, with the fall of Jerusalem to Nebuchadnezzar from Babylon. The temple is destroyed and its treasures taken to a foreign land. The king’s sons are killed and his eyes poked out.

Jeremiah also predicts the fall of Babylon, the glamorous kingdom that has overtaken the world.

But the predictions seem to go much further than just the time of 500BC. There are things in here that do not seem to apply to those times.

God promises that He will restore Israel and create a beautiful world of peace and harmony.

Dear Father God, I pray for the coming of the Israel You promise, the one where all who believe in You and Your salvation through Your Son Jesus Christ can live in peace and harmony. Come Lord Jesus come, into Your weary world…. I long for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
