After the brief respite of Balaam and his donkey, which gives a sort of aerial view of God’s love of the Israelites, the grim cycle of crime and punishment begins again…

This time the Israelite men begin bedding foreign women and worshiping Baal. Another plague is averted when Aaron’s grandson slays a man who takes a Midianite woman to his tent in front of everyone.

Then a census is taken and Moses is told how the tribes are to divide Canaan up amongst themselves, when they get there. That time is getting close, because the census reveals that every man from the original census has died, except Moses, Joshua and Caleb (the two loyal spies).

Dear God, Thank you for the lovely time I have had recently holidaying with my family. Thank you for healing my children of their stomach complaints. Please bring my mother over to London safely. Please help me teach my boys to follow your paths and to be peaceful, In Jesus’ name, Amen
