I love this quote from Job. It makes me feel a little better about my humble, unpaid career:
“The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are her wings and pinions like the kindly storks?” (God asks Job), “For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and warms them in the dust; she forgets that a foot may crush them, or that a wild beast may break them.
“She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers; her labor is in vain, without concern,
“Because God deprived her of wisdom and did not endow her with understanding.”
Job also apologises to God, very eloquently, essentially saying he is sorry for having spoken without understanding: “I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”
So the Lord made Job’s friends ask for his apologies, and people from miles around came to give him gifts. He is blessed again, this time with double what he had before.
In the Acts verses, Paul’s wanderings continue as he teaches the good news of Christ risen. He travels to Jerusalem and is caught and bound there.
Dear God, Thank You for a lovely weekend. Please help me to seek You always, and to teach my children Your ways. Thank You for the friends we saw on the weekend. Thank You that You keep us safe. Thank You for showing us Your love. Please help us show Your love to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
