Elisha helps a barren woman who has provided him with a special prophet’s room to rest on his travels. He promises her a child, and she has one. Then the child dies and she goes to the prophet. He sees her coming in the distance and sends his minions to find out what is the matter – but she refuses to be seen by an underling.
When she sees him finally to tell him of the fate of her God-given child, Elisha rushes to revive him.
He also heals the commander of the Syrian army, Namaan, of leprosy, by ordering him to bathe in the Jordan River. Namaan takes offence at this: are our rivers not as good? he cries. but he does so and is healed.
Dear God, Please heal me. You know my ailments. Please heal me. Please also heal P. Thank you for the abundance you give me. Thank you for all the food, our faith, our health and our home. Thank you for each other. Please heal our ailments, and particularly be with P. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
