Solomon builds the temple that his father David was not permitted to build. He uses all the beautiful metals nad woods. It is a beautiful time in the nation’s history, each man living under his vine and fig tree.
That quote is actually from yesterday’s reading, chapter 4 verse 11, and is one of the promises of what heaven will be like. But, as usual, mankind seems unable to live without drama, and soon enough I’m sure we’ll have some.
As Ps 36 says: “Let not the foot of pride come against me….”
Dear God, Please do not let me become proud. Thank you for the vine and fig tree you have alloted me, us. Thank you for my friends. Please help me seek you first, and please move in my friends’ hearts so they come too. Please watch over our community, let us build something loving and inclusive. Please be with D and M, who are suffering loneliness at the moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen
