God is pleased with Solomon for faithfully fulfilling his earthly father’s wishes, so offers him a choice of any blessing he likes: riches, power – anything.

Solomon asks for wisdom – the ability to discern between good and evil. He was already pretty wise I think. What a brilliant blessing to have.

So God adds in all the riches and power too, and promises to make Solomon the most famous king. Arguably he is.

Psalm 35 is a prayer for protection against enemies.

Dear Father God, Please watch over my brothers. Watch over T and V as they travel and P &N. Please heal P. Please give me wisdom Father, and the ability to discern between good and evil. Thank you for all your gifts, mostly for my faith. Please increase my faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
