The final words of David where he praises the Lord and chronicles the numbers of his people, wrap up 2 Samuel.

There is also a story where God gives David the choice of three evils to atone for some sin – seven years’ drought, thre months of flight or three days of plague. David cannot decide, so the Lord does and 70,000 people in three days of plague, until the plague threatens Jerusalem and God orders his angel to stop, which he does in the middle of someone’s threshing floor. David then turns that threshing floor into an altar.

I like the line in Psalm 33 about horses being a vain hope for safety. Of course in those days horses were a major instrument of power. These days it could be medicine; nuclear arms; fighter planes, science….

Dear God, Thank you for being my strength. Please help me to always look to you for my salvation. Please be with my P&N. They have had so much to deal with my Father. Please heal P and help them rebuild their lives. Thank you for the person who is donating bone marrow in Germany. Thank you and please Father God give P strength for the operation and heal him.
