Here the Israelites are instructed in graphic and brutal language to put out the unclean, and to make them shout out their “unclean-ness” for all time. This is so different from Jesus, who walked among the unclean and healed them.

Also, the law of jealousy is introduced. If a husband is jealous he may take his wife to the priest to be “tested”. I find it really hard to deal with these bits, where women are so clearly the subjugate sex.

Finally, the Lord tells the people the Aaronic Blessing: May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He make His face to shine upon you. May the Lord give you peace.

Dear God, Thank you for Jesus who was kind to the unclean and healed them, and has done the same for me.

In His holy name, Amen.
