Today God gives his intricate instructions as to how to make the Angel of Death “passover” the Israelites in the last and worst plague: the death of the first borns.<\/p>\n
These are the instructions for the Passover Festival, a permanent festival to honour God, and the introduction to the concept of being saved by the blood of a lamb, as we Christians are today.<\/p>\n
They are fascinatingly complex, I guess so that the Egyptians can’t copy (the Egyptians, we are told, now respect Moses to the point where when the Israelites ask for all their gold, they hand it over)<\/p>\n
I’m curious as to why God says they are all to give up yeast for a week as part of Passover. Is it because yeast requires a “home” or because it requires time in one spot, and the Israelites, like us today, must be ready to follow as soon as they are told?<\/p>\n
Dear God, Thank you for giving us the blood of the lamb so that we are not subject to your wrath on judgment day, and can live now at peace with you as your adopted children. Thank you for the ultimate sacrificial lamb, our Lord Jesus Christ, who has freed us from the bonds of slavery once and for all.
