My readings for the last few days have come together in a vast outcry to God to help me with my faith.<\/p>\n
I feel like the garden of my heart is not being watered – my own fault for not going to church in recent weeks – but I also feel that my church is not really helping me grow my faith either. There are lots of thorns reaching for my heart!<\/p>\n
Lord I feel overwhelmed by all the science of the world that mocks my faith. Everything is designed to say You don’t exist, and designed so that I never seek You as I am so busy with the world’s pleasures. Please God, I believe, Help me believe more! Grow my faith more! These are some of my favorite words from the bible (Mark 9 verse 24) The story is the one where a boy has terrible convulsions and the disciples cannot cure him. So Jesus says: “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”<\/p>\n
“Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord I believe, Help my unbelief.”<\/p>\n
Amen to that. The two psalms are also to do with the feeling that God has left the planet; that he has finally washed his hands of us.<\/p>\n
“Oh God, why have You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?”<\/p>\n
The psalmist calls on God to “Lift up your feet to the perpetual desolations. They have set fire to Your sanctuary, they have defiled the dwelling place of Your name to the ground.” (Psalm 74)<\/p>\n
Meanwhile in Nehemiah, the former captives continue to work through mocking and trickery from those who do not want Jerusalem’s walls rebuilt. They work with one hand on the tools and one on the sword, to protect themselves and their families while they rebuild God’s city. It’s a bit how I feel at the moment.<\/p>\n
Dear Father, I am so wanting in the things You want from Your children. Please forgive me, please help me\u00a0 believe more, please continue to love me so I can love others. Please help me keep weeding the unloving things from my heart, so there is more room for You. Please help me love You more than anything, while also showing Your love to those around me. Father please watch over my children, protect them and help them walk Your ways. Please help me do the work You want from me. Forgive me my sins.
