Well that will teach me to go to the New Testament for some “easy” scripture after the hardgoings of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Today’s NT reading was the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus says that not only does the law still apply, every letter of it, but he goes on to add some even harder ones:
\n* if someone slaps you on one cheek, turn and offer the other one
\n* if you think evil thoughts about your brother, you as good as kill him;
\n*if you look lustfully at someone you have as good as done the dirty…
\n* love your enemies…
\nI guess this is where the bar is set so high we know we can never do it without his help.
\nI trust that is what it is all about as I am and will always fail on these rules, try as I might.
\nDear Lord, Please help me live up to your commands as best I can. Please forgive me for the many times each day I fail. Please help me do your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
