Elijah is taken up to heaven in the chariot of Israel, after leaving his junior Elisha with “a double portion of his spirit”….
Elisha starts going around doing miracles – healing a town’s water supply and saving Israel for the sake of the sons of David in Judah.
I feel sorry at the loss of Elijah. Some of his stories are beautiful and inspirational – such as when he loses hope and is tended by angels. Elisha in comparison is a little too young and ambitious for my taste.
Dear God, thank you for the beautiful tales of Elijah, where you rescue him in times of emotional trouble. Thank you that his moments of emotional turmoil are written about, as sometimes it feels like these men of God are perfect, and we find it difficult to take inspiration from them. So thank you for these stories. Please reach into my heart and give me strength now Father. I sometimes feel disheartened. Please give me strength, and help me feel your love. Thank you for the lovely friends who came around today. Thank you my lovely Father. You are amazing. IN Jesus’ name, Amen
