Having been outcast for years after murdering his brother (who raped his sister), Absolom is brought back to Jerusalem. But problems don’t stop there and Absolom starts plotting to take his father’s power.

By posing as the judge of all those who come to Jerusalem for the king’s judgment, he builds a powerbase for himself, and eventually chases David out of Jerusalem.

But David sets up a network of spies, and leaves the ark of the covenant in Jerusalem.
