Moses talks about how blessed Israel is to have God, the creator, on their side. He talks about how God helped them defeat King Sihon, and King Og, who was leader of a tribe of giants. King Og’s coffin was four metres long.
Then he urges the people to be obedient, and particularly not to have idols.
He warns that if they make idols of any kind: “The Lord will scatter you among nations, where only a few of you will survive. There you will serve gods made by human hands, gods of wood and stone, gods that cannot see or hear, eat or smell. There you will look for the Lord your God and if you search for him with all your heart, you will find him.”
God is so amazingly passionate about his people in these speeches. He is like a jealous lover.
Dear God, please help me be worthy of your amazing and precious love, a love that stays with me, that plucks me out of the furnace of Egypt, and finds me even after I have been so very very lost. Thank you for sending your son, my good shepherd, to find me. In His name, my Lord Jesus, Amen
