Here begins a long list of ways in which people will become ritually unclean. It gives detailed and offputting descriptions of “dreaded skin disease”. The fate of those with this disease is horrendous. They must sit outside the city gates and yell “unclean, unclean” if anyone comes near them.

Also, the chapters talk about what to do if you get persistent red mildew – destroy your house if it persists. Obviously this instruction was for once they were in the promised land.

I guess a lot of this was disease control – but why the uncleanness of having a period, or sex?

Dear God, Thank you that I am as clean as snow in your eyes – because Jesus has died as the ulimate and forever-lasting sacrifice for my sins and has thrown my accuser Satan from heaven.
