To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for… Hebrews 5- 13

Hebrews contains a lot of the Old Testament prophecies about the new covenant that is to come, so it is nice to read in times when faith is flagging.

Paul is reminding the Hebrews of how the new covenant has its roots in their fathers’ faith: “It was by their faith that people of ancient times won God’s approval.”

“Do not lose your courage then, because it brings with it a great reward. You need to be patient, in order to do the will of God and receive what He promises.”

So, “let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give us because of the cross! Indeed because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right-hand of God’s throne.”

Dear Father God, thank You for our lovely Mother’s Day assembly this morning, and that A read his poem so well. Thank You that dad had regained conciousness, even though he is still feeling terribly groggy. Please bless his recovery. Thank You for the brilliant medical team treating him. Please continue to grow my faith, and guard it. Thank You for loving me, my heavenly Father. Please help me to use the strength Your love gives me to do Your work. In Jesus’ name, Amen
