Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the tree… Daniel 4-5
The mighty king Nebuchadnezzar has another dream:
A beautiful tree, so tall that ir reached the sky, had so much fruit it could have fed the world. Yet an angel came down and declared in a loud voice that it must be cut down.
Daniel is put in the awkward position of having to interpret the dream. He tells Nebuchadnezzar that he, the king, is the tree.
“This is what the Supreme God has declared will happen to you. You will be driven away from human society and will live with wild animals. For seven years you will eat grass like and ox. Then you will admit that the Supreme God controls all human kingdoms.
“The angel ordered hte sump to be left in the ground. This means that you will become king again when you acknowledge that God rules all the world.”
Indeed King Nebuchadnezzar one day was looking out on Babylon from his roof, and said: “Look how great Babylon is! I built it as my capital city to display my power and might.”
At that moment Nebuchadnezzar was driven out of human society and became like an animal.
After seven years he finally admits God is the supreme God, and praised him.
As soon as he did that, his kingdom is returned to him.
