Keep safe what has been entrusted to your care… 1 & 2 Timothy
Paul is talking about Timothy’s faith in the quote above… he finishes the instructiong by saying “Avoid the profane talk and foolish arguments of what some people wrongly call ‘knowledge’. For some have claimed to possess it and as a result they have lost the way of faith.”
Paul talks about people who think religion is a way of becoming rich:
“Well religion does make a person very rich, if he is satisfied with what he has. What did we bring into this world? Nothing. What shall we take out of it? Nothing. So then, if we have food and clothes, that should be enough. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harful desires which pull them down to ruin and destruction.
“For the love of money is the source of all kinds of evil.
“But you, man of God, avoid all these things. Strive for righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
“Run your best in the race of faith, and win eternal life.”
Dear Father God, Thank You that Jesus has died so that that I am made right with You through faith. Please help grow my faith, help me nurture it and help it bear fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and moderation. Please give me patience to teach my children Your word. Help me do the work You set out for me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
